LVG Unhappy At Man. United Exit

Louis van Gaal says his exit from Manchester United and Jose Mourinho’s subsequent appointment after he left the club was "not elegant at all".

The Dutchman spent two seasons at Old Trafford but was sacked the day after winning the FA Cup in 2016, and has said in the past that he was unhappy about the way he was treated by the club and Mourinho's arrival.

Van Gaal met his successor at Anfield on Saturday ahead of United's 0-0 draw with Liverpool as part of his role for Dutch TV but also claimed that Mourinho, with whom he worked while manager at Barcelona, allows himself to get "out of control" too often.

"How I have suspected it, the way his transfer as a manager to Manchester United went was not elegant at all, that resulted in my sacking," Van Gaal was quoted as saying in various newspapers.

"In principle, he is not a bad guy. He can be sympathetic and he was this way when he was my assistant in the past.

"But he lets himself go out of control too often."

However, Van Gaal also said he looks back fondly on his time with the club.

"I have great memories and my relationship with all the staff and fans was great during my time at United," he added.
