Opinions: Reaction To Benfica v United

Manchester United continued their 100 per cent record in the Champions League this season with a hard-fought win against Benfica in Lisbon on Wednesday.

A second-half strike from Marcus Rashford ensured the Reds stay three points clear at the top of Group A ahead of the return fixture against the Portuguese side in two weeks' time.

Jose Mourinho and two former Benfica players, Victor Lindelof and Nemanja Matic, offered their post-match thoughts to MUTV and here are the key points from their interviews...

Victor Lindelof: "It was nice to come back here and get the win. I came here when I was 17 and I grew up as a person playing here, so this will always be a special place. We had total control of the game; they had a few chances in the first half but apart from that we were in control."

Nemanja Matic: "They were really organised but we had more of the ball. We obviously had a little bit of luck with the goal but created a lot of chances and had some great counter-attacks. What is important is that we got the three points and are top of the group. I’m really happy for the team."

Jose Mourinho: "It's not a match where I have one more white hair, because we were in control. We have nine points and are almost there. We have to go to Basel and, maybe, we have to discuss the first and second positions in the group. Or maybe not, depending on other results."

View from the fans: Dwayne Ewers from Tennessee said on Twitter: "Glory glory Man United! Great to get the victory in #UCL today. Good on Rashy getting the goal."
