Man. United And Man. City Given More Time By FA To Provide Observations On Tunnel Fracas

Manchester United and Manchester City have been given extra time to provide their observations following reports of an incident after Sunday's Premier League game.

They now have until 6pm on Friday, the Football Association has announced, to provide an explanation for what happened during a tunnel altercation after City's 2-1 win at Old Trafford.

It is understood the FA has extended the deadline by two days because they are mindful of Wednesday night's Premier League fixtures.

Leaders Manchester City are at Swansea City, while second-placed United host Bournemouth.

Jose Mourinho was irked by the loud music and celebrations from Manchester City's open dressing room as he made his way to his post-match press conference and an altercation followed when he made his feelings known to City goalkeeper Ederson.

The United boss then had a carton of milk thrown towards him from inside the dressing room which hit one of his backroom staff, according to Sky sources, while Manchester City assistant coach Mikel Arteta suffered a cut to the head in the incident but no punches were thrown.

It is understood United were surprised at the manner of City's celebrations after the full-time whistle.

The incident was not included in referee Michael Oliver's match report, prompting the FA to investigate.
