Beckham: Ibrahimovic Would Boost The MLS

David Beckham admits he would love to see Zlatan Ibrahimovic playing in the MLS, even if that means him leaving Manchester United.

It was confirmed on Monday that Beckham has been granted permission to launch an MLS franchise in Miami, the same day United boss Mourinho admitted he would not stand in Ibrahimovic's way if he wanted to leave Old Trafford.

Beckham is convinced a move from the Premier League to America would benefit the Swede, citing the example of how he improved as a player after moving from Real Madrid to join LA Galaxy.

"It's hard to talk about a player who is part of a club I love but all players get linked, at some point, with other teams and Zlatan is such a world-class player," Beckham told Sky Sports News.

"If talented players like him come into this league, it can only add to the strength and success of what this league can achieve.

"I was playing for Real Madrid when I had the chance to move to the MLS, which wasn't as established as it is now, so that was a big move for me.

"It's something that changed me as a player, changed me as a person and gave me a challenge that I needed and I loved every minute of it.

"If Zlatan, or other players like that, come into the league, it can only add to level this league can get to."

Beckham also admitted he was surprised to see Alexis Sanchez join Manchester United from Arsenal, where he has been handed the iconic No 7 shirt.

"It's astonishing that move happened," he added.

"To see him in a Manchester United shirt, to see him in the No 7 shirt, a shirt worn by some great players over the years - Bryan Robson, Eric Cantona, George Best, Cristiano Ronaldo.

"I think having him in the team can only strengthen us."
