Ibrahimovic Welcome At LA Galaxy

Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic would be welcomed with open arms at LA Galaxy after players from the MLS club talked up the move.

The Swede signed a short-term contract at Old Trafford that expires at the end of the season, but the 36-year-old has made just seven appearances this campaign, scoring once.

The striker returned from a torn anterior cruciate ligament injury in December but he has suffered a recurrence in a frustrating second spell at United, who face Newcastle on Super Sunday, live on Sky Sports Premier League.

LA Galaxy have been linked with a move for the former Barcelona and Inter Milan striker - and the club's Norwegian forward Ola Kamara would be delighted to team up with Sweden's all-time record goalscorer.

"I know that guy is an incredible presence, and he's one of the biggest players in the world," Kamara told mlssoccer.com. "When you're playing for the Galaxy, that's what you expect.

"We'll see [if it happens]. Of course, he's been struggling a little bit with knee injuries, but we'll see."

Giovani dos Santos is preparing for his fourth MLS season at the Galaxy and the Mexican was similarly effusive in his praise of Ibrahimovic's glittering career that has seen him win 25 major trophies.

"I don't know if it's going to happen," the former Tottenham forward said. "I respect him. I think he's one of the best players in history, you know, the greatest striker. A player like him, I think, is welcome in every team."

Galaxy have long been linked with a move for Ibrahimovic but head coach Sigi Schmid is not getting carried away.

"If it happens, it happens, and once it happens, then we'll give thought to it," he said.

"He's a big player. Big players have an impact on your team, whether that's Zlatan or whether that's (Lionel) Messi or a Neymar - guys like that have an impact on your team.

"Obviously, he's been a successful player, he's won trophies everywhere he's been, but until it happens, I'm not going to worry about it."

Galaxy president Chris Klein was less forthcoming when asked how far discussions had progressed.

"We're nowhere," he said. "We wouldn't comment on it. It's unfair, because he's contracted to another club."
