Bailly Apologises To Manchester United Fans After Champions League Exit

Eric Bailly has apologised to Manchester United fans for their display in the 2-1 defeat to Sevilla which knocked them out of the Champions League.

United have come under criticism for their lacklustre display against the La Liga side, with Sevilla midfielder Steven N'Zonzi admitting they were "surprised" Jose Mourinho's men gave them so much space.

Bailly, who played the full 90 minutes on Tuesday night, says the squad will use the result as motivation for the remainder of the season as they fight on in the Premier League and FA Cup.

"We ask the fans for forgiveness following our exit," Bailly posted on social media on Wednesday.

"Last night was terrible and we must all reflect and take note so it doesn't happen again. It's painful, but we have to get right back up, dust ourselves off, and look ahead."

Mourinho's side could witness Manchester City, who hold a 16-point lead at the top of the Premier League, be crowned champions if they lose on their trip to the Etihad on April 7, live on Sky Sports, and City win their next game against Everton.

United's next outing is in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup against Brighton at Old Trafford on Saturday.
