Mourinho takes romantic view on Paul Pogba-Mark Noble melee

Paul Pogba and Mark Noble "looked in love" after a square-up during Manchester United's goalless draw at West Ham, says Jose Mourinho.

The FA may yet take retrospective action if it deems there to have been violent conduct when a tussle between players emerged after Noble reacted angrily to a challenge from Pogba late in the game.

The pair were booked by referee John Moss for their involvement, but were seen embracing after the final whistle. Mourinho took a romantic view of the incident.

"Paul and Noble, they looked in love," he said. "Cuddles, hugs and kisses, changing shirts.

"So I think it was good, competitive. We needed points to finish second. They don't win anything, because they did the job last match at Leicester but they play to win and the changes David [Moyes] made was to try that.

"Moss was there and he resolved the problem in a good way because the game was intense, but the game was correct. When I saw the reaction of the players I believe that was nothing extraordinary."

Noble also saw the funny side to the incident, insisting he is one of Pogba's biggest admirers.

"The funny thing is I'm one of Paul's biggest fans," he said. "My son only walked out with me today so he could see Paul Pogba.

"Paul gets a lot more stick than he deserves. He's at one of the biggest clubs in the world and gets a lot of pressure on his shoulders. you can tell he really wants to win. I said to him after there were no hard feelings, it happens.

"He's a top, top player and i think people should show him a bit more love."
