Shaw 'very close' to agreeing new Manchester United contract
Luke Shaw is very close to agreeing a new long-term contract at Manchester United, Sky Sports News understands.
The 23-year-old left-back sees his current deal expire next summer, but is poised to recommit his future at Old Trafford after returning to the first-team fold under Jose Mourinho.
Shaw endured a difficult campaign last term after recovering from a serious leg break, but has started seven of United's eight Premier League games so far this season.
The England international is one of 11 Manchester United players whose current deals are set to expire in June 2019, but he is also one of several the club have been keen to retain.
Discussions have been ongoing with goalkeeper David de Gea and Anthony Martial, who both have options of a further year that could be triggered on their current deals.
Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young, both 33, will have their form and reliability assessed further into the campaign before decisions are made on whether to hold talks about extending their stays.
Long-term club servants Phil Jones and Chris Smalling face uncertain futures, however, as well as Ander Herrera, Matteo Darmian, Andreas Pereira and Juan Mata.
