Reds to play 2 games in Perth
Manchester United will play Perth Glory and Leeds United as part of the club's Tour 2019.
The two fixtures, the first of United’s 2019 tour schedule to be announced, will take place at the Optus Stadium, Perth, with the club taking on Perth Glory on Saturday 13 July and Leeds United on Wednesday 17 July.
This will be only the fifth visit the club has made to Australia, the first being in 1967 when Matt Busby's team toured Australia, playing eight friendly matches. The last time United visited Perth was in 1975. The match against Leeds United will be the first time the old rivals have met since 2011.
Manchester United’s executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, comments:
“Our pre-season tour is an integral part of the squad’s preparation for the forthcoming season and after what will be a forty-four year absence since we last played in Perth, we are delighted to be returning to Western Australia to play not just one, but two games against Perth Glory and Leeds United.
“As well as preparing for the season ahead, the club will also have the opportunity to engage with our loyal fans in Australia, who last got the chance to see us play in Sydney in 2013.”
Fans can pre-register for tickets from 10am (GMT+8) on 28 November by visiting www.unitedinperth.com, before tickets go on general sale on 29 November.
The club has reserved some of the best seats in the stadium exclusively for its Season Ticket Holders, Executive Club Members and Official Members, available to purchase before Tuesday 11 December. More information can be found at www.unitedinperth.com.
All Tour 2019 games will be shown live on MUTV and the Official App. In addition, ManUtd.com and the club's Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube channel will provide access to the players on tour, as well as exclusive content and programming as the squad prepares for the new season.
Further details on additional pre-season fixtures, locations and ticket details will be announced soon.
