Young and Man. UNited in talks over new one-year deal

Manchester United are in discussions with Ashley Young over a new one-year contract for the defender, according to Sky sources.

Young's current deal is due to expire at the end of the season but United are considering offering him a second successive one-year extension, having previously triggered a clause in his contract in March.

However, Sky sources understand talks between the two parties are still in the early stages.

Young has made 10 appearances this season and captained United in the 3-1 defeat to rivals Manchester City on Sunday.

The 33-year-old is one of a number of key players who are out of contract next summer, including Anthony Martial, David De Gea and Juan Mata.

Manchester United are now 12 points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City after Sunday's defeat at the Etihad.

Jose Mourinho's side next face Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on November 24.
