Solskjaer hopes for Pogba progress

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has given us an update on three Manchester United players ahead of this weekend's trip to Tottenham Hotspur.

On returning from the warm-weather training camp in Dubai, the Reds will be back in Premier League action on Sunday afternoon, when travelling to Wembley Stadium to face one of our rivals for a top-four place.

Speaking to us in the Middle East, our caretaker manager provided some early team news ahead of the tough test against Tottenham.

“Marcos [Rojo] has gone back home because his injury is taking a bit longer than we thought,” Solskjaer said.

“Fred['s partner] is expecting a baby and Paul [Pogba] has had his knock and has had a few days of treatment back home.

“Hopefully, we can get Paul on his feet during this week.”

Rojo has been restricted to three first-team appearances so far this season due to injury – the last of which came on 8 December in the 4-1 victory over Fulham.

Summer signing Fred played 62 minutes in last weekend’s 2-0 Emirates FA Cup win over Reading after starting for the second time under Solskjaer.

In-form Pogba missed the third-round tie against the Royals, after sustaining a knock in a challenge by Jonjo Shelvey in the 2-0 win at Newcastle United. The Frenchman initially stayed in Manchester for treatment before joining the rest of the squad in Dubai on Monday.

Chris Smalling is continuing his recovery from a sore foot, during this week's training sessions. Fellow defender Eric Bailly will have to miss the Spurs trip, as he completes a three-match ban for his recent red card against Bournemouth.

The Reds will look to record a sixth straight victory in all competitions under Solskjaer against Spurs on Sunday, with the squad working hard in Dubai to ensure the best possible preparation for the eagerly anticipated clash.
