This week at United

As Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Manchester United players prepare for Premier League action one last time in 2018/19, we take a look at the events and anniversaries taking place in and around the club from Monday to Sunday...

MONDAY

MUTV subscribers can watch the latest instalment of The Paddy Crerand Show, as the club legend discusses Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Huddersfield Town with supporters. The weekly phone-in programme is on air for an hour from 18:30 BST.

Monday also marks five years to the day since our appearances record-holder Ryan Giggs played his 963rd and final game for the Reds. The Welsh wizard, who was our caretaker boss at the time, brought himself off the bench during our 3-1 home win over Hull City in 2014.

TUESDAY

We’ll be wishing ex-Reds star Norman Whiteside a happy 54th birthday. The Northern Ireland international, who bagged the winner in the 1985 FA Cup final against Everton, made 278 United appearances, scoring 68 goals.

Tuesday is also the second anniversary of Scott McTominay's senior debut for us. The midfielder came on to replace Juan Mata in the 84th minute of our 2-0 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

WEDNESDAY

On Wednesday, it will be exactly a quarter of a century since one of our greatest ever midfielders made his final appearance in a United shirt. Bryan Robson, who signed for the Reds from West Bromwich Albion in 1981 and went on to play 461 times for the club, trotted out on to the Old Trafford pitch for one last time in a goalless draw with Coventry City.

Six years ago today, on 8 May 2013, Sir Alex Ferguson announced his retirement as our manager after more than 26 years in the job.

THURSDAY

It’s one of the biggest nights of the year at Old Trafford as we hold our annual Player of the Year awards. If you have downloaded the official app, you can vote for the top performers in the first team, women's team, Under-23s and Under-18s until midnight BST on Wednesday while the Goal of the Season poll will remain open well into the evening itself.

As we continue to commemorate our Treble-winning campaign, the game played 20 years ago today was a vital 1-0 win at Middlesbrough. Dwight Yorke scored the only goal on the stroke of half-time to give us a priceless three points in our push for the Premier League title.

FRIDAY

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will hold his final pre-match press conference of the season, ahead of Sunday’s match against relegated Cardiff City. As usual, you can use our official app to follow proceedings at the Aon Training Complex, with the start time to be confirmed closer to the day.

SATURDAY

Our women's team will lift the FA Women’s Championship trophy after the final fixture against Lewes is fulfilled at Leigh Sports Village. Kick-off is at 17:30 BST, when the title-winners will be looking to round off a remarkable debut season in style.

One of the youngest members of Casey Stoney's squad, Lucy Roberts, will have another reason to celebrate - it's her 18th birthday.

The final game of the Premier League season has fallen on 11th May on several occasions, and this date therefore marks the anniversary of the last appearance for many Reds icons, including David Beckham (2003), Eric Cantona (1997), Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic (2014) and Denis Irwin (2002).

SUNDAY

We bring the curtain down on another season on Sunday, as Cardiff City make the long trip north to Old Trafford. Kick-off is at 15:00 BST and you can follow all the usual live build-up across all our channels.

Finally, it’s six years to the day since Sir Alex's last Old Trafford game as United boss. His side, already crowned champions, beat Swansea City 2-1 that day, thanks to goals from Javier Hernandez and Rio Ferdinand.
