What's going on at United this week?
The second week of the new season is already upon us and there is plenty going on at Manchester United.
With the Reds’ first away game of the 2019/20 campaign falling on Monday 19 August there is no first-team game this week, but between our youth sides being in action and significant birthdays and anniversaries there’s plenty to keep an eye out for…
MONDAY
We're still reflecting on a fabulous opening to the Premier League campaign, as Ole's side hit four goals without reply against Chelsea on Sunday. For more reaction to the match make sure to tune into The Paddy Crerand Show, which will be live on MUTV from 18:30. This day also marks 16 years since Cristiano Ronaldo joined the Reds from Sporting Lisbon.
TUESDAY
Ole and his staff will turn their attentions to next Monday’s meeting with Wolverhampton Wanderers, and will begin to plan their tactical approach for the trip to the Black Country. United lost twice at Molineux earlier this year and will be desperate to pick up a positive result this time around.
WEDNESDAY
We hope to be in place at the Aon Training Complex to take some pictures of the boys being put through their paces by the coaching team. No doubt the mood will be buoyant among the squad.
THURSDAY
United Women’s goalkeeper Siobhan Chamberlain will be celebrating her 36th birthday. The former England international joined the Reds last year and played 18 league games for United as we were crowned champions of the Women’s Championship.
FRIDAY
Ole will face questions from the assembled media in his weekly press conference, which will be shown on MUTV. The boss should give an update on the latest team news and who is likely to feature at Molineux three days later. Our Under-23s are in action later that evening when we face our first home match of the season against Reading. The game will take place at Leigh Sport Village and kicks off at 19:00 BST. The opening league outing ended in a fine 5-0 win at West Brom.
SATURDAY
Neil Ryan’s Under-18s play a second fixture of the campaign away to Wolves at the weekend. The match begins at 13:00 BST, later than originally scheduled, at the club’s training base, the Sir Jack Hayward Training Ground. The Academy side's beat Sunderland 3-0 last weekend. Also, on this day in 1996, David Beckham scored that goal against Wimbledon, and just in case you’ve forgotten what it looks like…
SUNDAY
We will round up another busy week at United with exclusive pre-match content on both the web and app ahead of the trip to Wolves the following day. For team news, match preview, player and manager interviews and a look at the opposition, we’ve got you covered for all the build-up you need before Monday’s big game.
