McTominay voted Man of the Match

Scott McTominay was our Man of the Match in the 1-0 win over Leicester City at Old Trafford, after coming out on top in the poll on the official Manchester United app.

The hard-working Academy graduate was a tireless performer as the Reds dug deep to see off the challenge presented by Brendan Rodgers's side.

His all-action display earned a nomination from MUTV pundits Danny Simpson and Danny Webber, along with Harry Maguire and Daniel James, for the star-man accolade.

“Scott’s improving,” commented Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at his post-match press conference. “I thought, today, he was excellent. He lost the ball a couple of times, which you expect because he’s still learning his new role of sitting midfield. But he goes into tackles, challenges and fights. If there’s a team trying to intimidate us, he’s the first one there - he’s a leader. I wouldn’t want to go into a 50-50 with him!

”There was once or twice in the first half where he got caught on it, but he’s confident enough to carry on. I’m very pleased for him.“

The Scotland international won all three of his aerial duels and made two interceptions and gained possession seven times, the joint-best from a United perspective with skipper Ashley Young. His tally of 26 passes in the opposition half, recorded by Opta, was the most from a home player.

FINAL VOTING

Scott McTominay - 53 per cent
Harry Maguire - 31 per cent
Daniel James - 16 per cent
