Ole confirms which keeper will face Wolves

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that Sergio Romero will start when Manchester United take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux in the Emirates FA Cup third round.

The Argentina international has historically featured in the cup competitions throughout his Reds career, both domestically and in Europe, and that will not change this weekend.

Romero has so far made seven appearances this season against Astana, Rochdale, Partizan Belgrade (twice), Chelsea, AZ Alkmaar and Colchester United, keeping five clean sheets in the process.

In our exclusive pre-match interview with Solskjaer, conducted at the Aon Training Complex on Friday morning, the manager revealed his plan to rotate our goalkeepers against Wolves.

“Sergio will play and he will be in goal,” Ole told us inside the Jimmy Murphy Centre.

“He has been fantastic when he has played.

“He has played in the Carabao Cup a couple of times and he has played in Europe, so he is keeping his record up with those games.

“He has not played enough, for his liking, but whenever he has been called upon he has always produced.”

Impressively, since joining the club in 2015, Romero has kept 32 clean sheets from 51 appearances across all competitions, giving him a ratio of 61 per cent.
