Wan-Bissaka's attacking influence praised by Ole

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes Aaron Wan-Bissaka has a big role to play in his Manchester United side in terms of attacking contributions.

The right-back provided the assist for Anthony Martial’s opening goal during our 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge on Monday, his second in the Premier League since joining from Crystal Palace in the summer.

Ole says getting balls into the box is a route the Reds - and Aaron - need to tap into more, especially with the addition of Odion Ighalo to the forward line.

Solskjaer believes it is something that Aaron can help with more and more.

“Of course we're working on patterns, movements, relationships with strikers,” the boss explained on Wednesday, during a press conference in Belgium.

“It's not just the full backs that are going to put the crosses in and practice the crossing.

“It's also the strikers to get in the box, fill the box with more players, because we've not been too many numbers in the box, but Aaron has provided a few nice assists now.

“It gets him on the standings seeing that he has a big part to play.”

Wan-Bissaka’s penchant for a superbly-timed challenge is well known, with the 22-year-old making the second highest number of tackles in the Premier League this season, after Leicester City’s Ricardo Pereira.

While Solskjaer recognises Aaron’s strengths in this area, he also wants him to be more of a creative threat in the other half, something that we’ve seen increasingly in recent weeks.

“When you play at Man United as a full back you do have to provide assists. That's just part and parcel of being here, so he's getting more and more of them.

“We always knew that he was going to be hard to beat. He's one of the best one v one defenders I've ever seen, but he used to be a winger when he was younger, so he's got it in him.”
