OLE ON THE REDS' SUMMER TRANSFER PLANS

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has insisted he is delighted with his squad’s development over recent months, but admits the club could make further additions this summer.

The Reds continued an impressive unbeaten run upon returning to Premier League action last Friday, and Ole will be hoping to extend that further on Wednesday by picking up three points against Sheffield United.

Speaking to the press ahead of the game, the boss was asked how far away United are from challenging for the title in the 2020/21 campaign, and about which areas he feels his team can improve in.

“Obviously, City and Liverpool have set the standard to where it should be to win the league,” Ole said in his pre-match press conference.

“We’ve developed over the season and now we’ve had a spell of 12 games unbeaten, but then you add Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford to that and you’re thinking, ‘yeah, we’re not far away’.”

While Ole is pleased with his current crop of players, the Norwegian admitted he is still keeping an eye out for potential incomings at Old Trafford.

“I’m very happy with the squad,” the boss told reporters. “But if there are any good deals to be made and players to make us better, of course we might have to spend some money.

“But the squad is great to work with and we’re moving in the right direction. We’re still not where we want to be in terms of [being] close enough to challenge for the Premier League trophy.

“It’s one step at a time and hopefully we can challenge for the Europa League and FA Cup this season and for the top four, and then we can see where we invest for next season.”
