A mere seven days after being told he would be out for a month, this picture shows Wayne Rooney doing light running at Carrington on Friday. The Reds forward is on course for a rapid return after twisting his ankle in training before the Blackburn game last Friday

The Reds striker scored eight goals in seven games before a training ground accident forced him onto the sidelines.

The initial prognosis signalled that United would be without the influential front man for a month.
