Inside Carrington: The Dressing Room

The players returned to a new home on arrival back at Carrington in the summer of 2007. Following a full refurbishment, a new-look first team dressing room awaited the squad and the outcome went down well with the lads.

"We’ve got such a big squad now it was decided that the first team and reserves changing rooms should be knocked into one to accommodate that," explains Ryan Giggs.

"It makes for a good atmosphere and all the players are really happy with it.”

The new set-up, which also includes an extra area for physio treatment, is a far cry from the changing rooms at the Reds’ former training ground, The Cliff.

“It’s completely different,” says Giggsy. “There was more of an old-school atmosphere there with little dressing rooms where there wasn’t much space between you. Now, here you’ve got your bigger lockers and plenty of space, so it’s definitely a change from The Cliff.”

To accommodate the dressing room expansion, the reserves have moved into what was originally the Academy dressing room, with United’s youngsters switching to the matchday dressing room, both of which are situated in the main Carrington building.
