Andy Cole: Man. United To Win The Title

Ex-United forward Andy Cole is adamant the current strike-force at Old Trafford has what it takes to win the Barclays Premier League title again this year.

The Treble-winning legend has been an interested observer since Dimitar Berbatov joined Carlos Tevez and Wayne Rooney at his old club. With Cristiano Ronaldo also in the mix, it's arguably United's best attacking quartet since Cole was on the payroll with Teddy Sheringham, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Dwight Yorke.

“It takes time to adapt to a new style and to build partnerships," Cole told BBC Sport.

“When I first went to United, Brian Kidd told me 'If you think 40 goals is enough at this football club, you're wrong.' I looked at him and thought he was mad. But once I'd been at United for a few months, I knew exactly where he was coming from."

United’s strikers are now approaching top gear with Berbatov, Rooney and Tevez all scoring significant goals during the past month. Tevez netted the only goal at Stoke City on Boxing Day and he could start United's next away game at Bolton. Rooney's out through injury after scoring the 49th-second winner against Wigan - his 12th goal of the season.

Meanwhile Berbatov's efforts against Middlesbrough and Chelsea are helping him to win over those critics who demanded a greater yield from the languid Bulgarian, despite the contribution he was already making to the team with his graceful style and passing.

Cole said: "I had to work incredibly hard to develop my game and these players will do the same. I think they'll take United to the title."
