Frozen & Frustrated
Tomasz Kuszczak was left disappointed after United failed to turn up the heat in the title race in what he described as "the coldest game of my life".
The Reds’ 1-1 draw at Birmingham means Sir Alex's men lie a point behind Chelsea, but the league leaders have a game in hand.
Kuszczak commended the hosts for their defensive steel, but considered the result two points dropped rather than one gained, especially considering United’s domination of the first half.
“We’re disappointed, of course,” Kuszczak told MUTV. “We came here for three points and only drew the game.
"We know what we have to do to keep up our challenge for the title and we want to win every match, no matter who we play. If we lose some points we are disappointed.
“We had most of the possession in the first half and created some chances. They were lucky to get the goal, but this is football.
"We scored in the second half but Birmingham defended very well and made it difficult for us. We had some chances but couldn’t score again.”
The Polish stopper was called upon three times to make smart saves from Christian Benitez (twice) and Roger Johnson. He modestly stated that he was just doing his job to help the team, and is more concerned about United's well-being than his personal performance.
“This is what I have to do," he insisted. "I play for the biggest club in the world and always try to give 100 per cent, help the lads win the game and keep a clean sheet.
"I didn’t manage it today, and although I made some saves, it’s still disappointing we didn’t win.”
