Brown Quits International Game

Wes Brown has announced his retirement from international football.

The 30-year-old defender was selected for England's midweek friendly against Hungary, but met with Three Lions manager Fabio Capello on Sunday to confirm his decision and withdraw from the squad.

Wes gained 23 caps between 1999 and March of this year, and his solitary international goal came in a 2-2 draw with Czech Republic in August 2008.

England have not yet replaced Wes, or Paul Robinson, who announced his own retirement on Saturday, in the squad for Wednesday's friendly. Wayne Rooney is United's sole representative in the 21-man squad.
