Hargreaves Faces D-Day

Owen Hargreaves will discover in the next 24 hours if he still has a future at Manchester United.

The crocked England midfielder is struggling to overcome a chronic knee problem that has left his Old Trafford career in tatters. But things are about to get even worse for him as boss Sir Alex Ferguson prepares to name his 25-man squad for the first half of the season.

Ferguson must name those he wants by tomorrow and knows his trickiest decision surrounds Hargreaves. If Ferguson axes Hargreaves then the former Bayern Munich star will be stuck on the sidelines for at least another four months. E

xclusion from the group would rule the 29-year-old out of Fergie’s first-team plans until January and raise fears that he could be finished altogether.
