Rene Highlights Fans' Input

Rene Meulensteen has hailed the contribution made by the supporters during the title-winning campaign.

The first-team coach admits that the Red Army are vital to the success of the team and have helped turn Old Trafford into a fortress as well as backing Sir Alex's side on the road.

The support and belief of the fans will again be an asset next term and, arguably, it could provide the edge over the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal in particular in the pursuit of more glory.

"We've had a fantastic season but it could've been an absolutely great season," said Meulensteen on MUTV. "We can't forget we've been to the semi-final of the FA Cup and the final of the Champions League against Barcelona. We have to hold our hands up as we played a really good team with great, great players.

"It doesn't take anything away from what we've achieved. 19 titles is an unbelievable achievement - the players and fans deserve it.

"The players would never be able to achieve this without the fans. There are moments you wouldn't believe when the fans really carry the team. They've done that this season on many occasions."
