Chicha Out For A Month

Javier Hernandez will miss the busy Christmas period after suffering ankle ligament damage during United’s 1-0 win over Aston Villa in the Barclays Premier League.

The Mexican striker tripped and fell in the opening exchanges at Villa Park, prompting a lengthy stoppage and an early exit on a stretcher. Speaking after the match, Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed the worst for Chicharito.

“I think it is torn ligaments in the ankle and he’ll be out for four weeks. We are having a bad time with injuries at the moment but that is why we have a strong squad.”

Hernandez joins Tom Cleverley, Michael Owen, Dimitar Berbatov, Anderson and the Da Silva twins on the treatment table and is likely to miss several key fixtures over the festive period.
