Evans, Nani Suffer Knocks
Manchester United will wait to see the extent of injuries to Jonny Evans and Nani after both players were forced from the pitch in the Reds' 3-1 win against SC Braga on Wednesday night.
Neither injury is believed to be serious, although Evans left the pitch after complaining of a groin niggle and Nani had to be helped off after feeling tightness in his hamstring.
United assistant manager Mike Phelan explained: "Jonny felt his groin a little bit – I think it probably happened during the penalty incident. As a precaution we took him off quickly.
"With Nani I think it was probably just a lack of games and his hamstring started to tighten up, so we weren’t taking any chances with that."
In more positive injury news, Chris Smalling came through his comeback relatively unscathed. The defender did require treatment early in the first half after receiving a blow to the head, but there was no reccurence of either the groin or foot injury that has kept him out since May and he completed the 90 minutes.
