Milestone Men Eye New Goals

Robin van Persie notched his 50th United appearance in the Reds' 4-1 league opener at Swansea, while Ryan Giggs made his 550th league start - but they're not the only milestone men in the club's ranks this season.

It's been a whirlwind half-century for the Dutchman, while United's Welsh wizard continues to work his age-defying magic. Such is Giggs' longevity in football that he collects records weekly; he's one outing off 450 appearances at Old Trafford.

Other Reds eyeing landmarks against the Blues are Antonio Valencia (on 149 club appearances), Rio Ferdinand (seeking a 300th league game) and Tom Cleverley (on 49 Reds outings). Here are some other major records on the horizon to look out for:

200 Rooney currently has 197 goals for United
950 Ryan Giggs currently on 943 appearances in total for the club
250 Patrice Evra is on 241 league appearances
150 Manchester City's visit to OT in March will be the 150th league derby
250 Darren Fletcher is on 249 league starts
100 David De Gea made his 82nd outing for United on Saturday
300 Nemanja Vidic has currently made 268 appearances for the Reds
