United Await European Draw

David Moyes will discover who his Manchester United team will face in this season’s UEFA Champions League when the group stage draw is made in Monaco on Thursday at 16:45 BST.

22 automatic entrants will be joined by 10 play-off winners at the Grimaldi Forum, where the 32 sides will be split into four seeding pots, with one from each drawn randomly into eight possible groups.

United are in Seeding Pot 1, which means the Reds cannot be pitted against Barcelona, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Arsenal, Porto or Benfica in the group stage. And as a team cannot be paired against another from the same country, local rivals Manchester City will also be avoided.

Once the draw is completed, a computer will then determine the final position of the clubs within their group and the order of the home and away matches. At present, these are the provisional dates...

Matchday 1: 17/18 September. Matchday 2: 1/2 October. Matchday 3: 22/23 October. Matchday 4: 5/6 November. Matchday 5: 26/27 November. Matchday 6: 10/11 December.
