Captain Keen To Make Amends

Having lost to Liverpool on Sunday, Nemanja Vidic says his Manchester United teammates are determined to set the record straight by dismantling Crystal Palace after the international break.

The champions were narrowly beaten at Anfield as a result of Daniel Sturridge’s fourth minute goal, a knockout blow from which the Reds struggled to recover. But as always, the focus is now on the next match – an Old Trafford meeting with Ian Holloway’s Eagles on Saturday 14 September.

And although Vidic would prefer to play that match straight away as opposed to waiting two weeks, the retired Serbian international is keen to spend that time working hard at the Aon Training Complex while some of his teammates represent their respective countries around the world.

“You need the next game as quickly as possible,” Nemanja told MUTV following Sunday’s match at Anfield. “The next game is Crystal Palace and we have to be ready.

“Some of us will stay here and we will work hard, some players will go away and maybe a few of them will need the games as well. Sometimes you need to go away, play for the national team and come back ready to perform.”
