Boss Happy With Hernandez

David Moyes accepts Javier Hernandez has taken a while to get up to speed this season but believes the striker is now approaching his best form again.

Chicharito missed all of Manchester United’s pre-season after a busy international schedule with Mexico, which included playing in the Confederations Cup, and subsequently found it difficult to break into the Reds’ starting XI.

But after watching the 25-year-old follow up his winner against Stoke with a two-goal display in the midweek Capital One Cup win over Norwich, Moyes believes the frontman is close to firing on all cylinders again.

"I'm really pleased for Chicha," he said. "It's been a slow start for him as he had a difficult summer, coming backwards and forwards to Mexico with all the games they had to play.

"But he's started to do what he's done over the years: score goals. He came off the bench to score the winner [against Stoke] and scored in midweek, so long may that continue."

Chicharito’s infectious enthusiasm and desire to succeed is renowned but that dedication is shared by the entire squad, according to Moyes.

"I think everybody is desperate to get into the first team and we can see that every day in their training," the manager said. "The players have a brilliant attitude, always trying to impress every day.

"We've introduced one or two young players into the team and if any more of them do well, we'll continue to put them in."
