Moyes: We Must Improve

David Moyes says he understands Manchester United fans’ concerns about the title race and accepts his team must improve if they are to retain the championship crown this season.

United suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to Everton at Old Trafford on Wednesday, a fourth loss of the Barclays Premier League season that leaves the champions ninth in the table and 12 points behind early pace-setters Arsenal.

Moyes has acknowledged the position is far from ideal and stated his belief that the Reds must now improve on the 12-match unbeaten run that preceded the midweek defeat to the Toffees.

Addressing reporters at the Aon Training Complex on Friday, the boss explained: “Of course I understand the fans' concerns. They want their team to win. I do as well. We need to try to improve how we are playing. We need to try to improve our results.

“We have had some good results, as you have rightly said. We have been on a decent run. We would like it to be better. We will have to go on another one.”

When asked if he has been frustrated by the team’s inconsistency this season, Moyes was typically honest in his assessment: “Yes, that is one of the things I have noticed. We have not had the consistency I hoped we would have.

“There have been some games where we have played really well, there have been others where we have been a little bit slack at times. That happens. When people go into new jobs it can take a little bit of time to settle in. We will get it right. I am sure of that.”
