Januzaj Stands Tall

Manchester United legend Lou Macari praised the performance of Adnan Januzaj after another excellent display at Stamford Bridge.

In a game that, admittedly, won’t live long in the memory because of the result, Januzaj proved once again he is more than capable of coping against some of the best defenders in the league.

The Reds' no.44 proved a constant creative threat during the first half, bristling with confidence as he took the ball to the Chelsea defence time and again. And his performance caught the eye of MUTV pundit Macari.

"Look at Januzaj and the impression he has made," the Scotsman said. "He picks the ball up and looks to run at defenders and take them on. Sometimes he loses the ball, but it doesn't matter, he is standing out."

Januzaj is no stranger to praise after a spate of age-defying displays, but Macari feels Sunday's match at the Bridge was particularly significant given that it highlighted Adnan's ability to test an experienced Chelsea rearguard.

"It was a big test for him and I think he came through that test with flying colours," Macari added. "He didn't score and he was on the losing team, but I thought he did things in the game that weren't the moves of an 18-year-old, they were the moves of an experienced player.

"I thought he was a real bright spark against Chelsea and David Moyes will know he can throw him into any of the big games in future with plenty of confidence."
