Scholes: Tour Matches Will Test Reds

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes says the players will relish playing against some of the biggest teams in world football during Tour 2014, presented by Aon.

The Reds fly out to the United States later this month to contest the International Champions Cup with mates against AS Roma, Inter Milan and Real Madrid all scheduled. And Scholes says they are tests Louis van Gaal's men will enjoy.

"I think players prefer against top-class teams," he told ManUtd.com. "The manager and staff will want to use as many players as they can to ensure they're ready for the first game of the season and playing against some of these teams will definitely help the players do that."

Scholes, a veteran of pre-season tours across the pond, was in the States earlier in the year for the launch of Tour 2014, presented by Aon, and says the interest in football and United is growing all the time.

"Football is becoming bigger in America all the time," he added. "We've got eight million supporters there and you couldn't ask for eight better teams to play in this tournament. It'll be great for the fans to get a closer look at them and see us train and play."
