Lindegaard Inspired By Fresh Approach

Anders Lindegaard is enjoying a new tactical approach at Manchester United under Louis van Gaal and fresh ideas in training from goalkeeper coach Frans Hoek.

The Reds have played in a 3-5-2 formation during Tour 2014, presented by Aon, and the Dane has been learning about the importance of the goalkeeper in the new system.

"I've played in a [back three] system before and I feel positively towards it," the 30-year-old told ManUtd.com.

"Like all other players, the goalkeeper has to adapt. Certain aspects of the game are more important than before and our whole approach to the new system tells me how much the goalkeeper's role has evolved in recent years, from being just a shot-stopper to so much more than that. That's what expected of us now."

Taking new ideas on board has been a feature of the recent weeks since he began work with new goalkeeping coach Frans Hoek, but Lindegaard says the atmosphere around the squad, bolstered by an unbeaten run on the tour, has made things go smoothly.

"The atmosphere in the squad has been really good. The manager and his team have a lot of new ideas and new approaches to everything, from how we eat to how we play football. There are a lot of things to adapt to but I've really enjoyed it because the atmosphere has been so great.

"Frans has different ideas to what I've seen before. It'll take time to get used to his new philosophies. We're building a relationship and getting to know each other, both in how we train and how we communicate, and I'm really enjoying it so far."
