Pallister And Sharpe Welcome Di Maria

Club legends Gary Pallister and Lee Sharpe believe Angel Di Maria can look look forward to a bright future at Manchester United following his club-record transfer from Real Madrid.

While serving as pundits on MUTV’s 'Matchday Live' programme, the former Reds gave their reaction to the Argentian's arrival at Old Trafford while offering their opinions on how he might fit into Louis van Gaal's plans.

“He’s an incisive player with plenty of pace which is something that we’ve maybe have been lacking,” Pallister commented. “We’ve brought in a creative player that possesses boundless amounts of energy, so I think he’s someone that is going to excite the fans.”

"In the past Di Maria has played on the right, the left and on the left of a midfield three,” the ex-defender added. “He’s clearly a very versatile player and as the manager says he’s a team player. He won’t spit the dummy out if he’s asked to play here there or wherever, you’re going to get 100% from him whenever he puts the shirt on.”

Former United winger Sharpe echoed Pallister's view that Di Maria will bring an exciting brand of football to Old Trafford that is bound to delight Reds supporters.

“It is a statement of intent and it’s exactly what the club has been looking for. It’s a big marquee signing that’s states a presence and a claim in the league,” said Lee. “I agree with Pally that his pace will get people on the edge of their seats, he’ll excite the crowd, create chances and score goals. I think he’s exactly what the club need.”
