Pallister Backs United To Beat Sunderland

Manchester United legend Gary Pallister has urged Reds supporters not to panic following last weekend’s shock 2-1 defeat to Swansea City on the opening day of the Barclays Premier League.

Having analysed the performances on this summer’s pre-season tour, the Old Trafford favourite is convinced that United will enjoy an improved season and expects Louis van Gaal’s men to bounce back during Sunday’s encounter with Sunderland.

"One result doesn't make a season and there is certainly no need to panic. We saw enough in pre-season to expect a vast improvement on last season," Pallister explained, while attending a promotional event for Chevrolet's 'What do you #PlayFor?' campaign.

"On paper we have an easier start to the season than last year and I expect United to bounce back at Sunderland. There is time to get it right before we start meeting the big guns, but, equally, you don't want too many results like Saturday and be falling behind before we reach that stage."

Pallister is also pleased by United’s transfer activity and feels Luke Shaw is a particularly shrewd acquisition, saying: "He was on the radar of a lot of big clubs and he will become a world class player at United. That is the type of quality that we need."
