Evra: Problems Led To United Exit

Patrice Evra has admitted he left Manchester United because of ‘personal problems’ and he is now happy at Juventus.

The 33-year-old moved to Turin in the summer after spending eight successful seasons at Manchester United, where he picked up five Premier League winners medals.

He had signed a one-year contract extension at Old Trafford in May but left following the big-money signing of Luke Shaw, with new boss Louis van Gaal also since coming into the club.

In comments reported by JTV, Evra is quoted as saying: “I went away from Manchester because of personal problems and the only team that I wanted was Juventus.

“They are a club which have a history and important goals. (Former Juventus' coach, Antonio) Conte had called me many times to convince me, now I'm at Juventus and I'm happy.

“Here I can continue with a big club, I saw no differences compared to United.

“The physical preparation has been very hard, maybe the hardest I've ever done.”

He has also praised former United team-mate Carlos Tevez for helping him settle in Turin.

“Tevez? I see him more mature, more of a team man. I found a lion, he is for me a great help here.”
