Sir Bobby Charlton Has Faith In Louis van Gaal

Louis van Gaal believes Manchester United are at the start of a “great adventure” under new manager Louis van Gaal, who he has backed to bring success back to Old Trafford.

The Reds are without a win in four competitive matches this season but hope to return to winning ways against QPR on Sunday, when summer signings Marcos Rojo, Daley Blind, Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao are all tipped to make their home debuts.

Club director Charlton is confident the good times are set to return under van Gaal and believes a lack of European football this season could ultimately play into United’s hands.

“It seems strange that Manchester United is not involved in European football for a season. It’s crazy, but maybe it can make things easier for us,” Sir Bobby explained at Soccerex, an annual conference in which football’s global leaders meet for a week of debate, networking and business.

“We have started with some new players, we have not been playing well but we will play well. I think that it’s going to be a great adventure of how we pull ourselves back around and get back to the way it used to be.”

Van Gaal has sanctioned a number of high-profile transfer deals in recent weeks and Sir Bobby is convinced the 63-year-old manager will achieve success with the Reds.

“He has given me and most of us fans some good news and it is good news. We won’t struggle, definitely, we won’t struggle any more. We are set fair. It is just such a strange environment the way that it’s all happened, that Manchester United is out of the news, but it won’t be for very long.”
