Van Gaal "Believes" In Wilson
Louis van Gaal has declared his faith in James Wilson as the young striker maintains a push for a first-team place at Manchester United.
The 18-year-old continues to excel at Under-21 level and came off the bench in the Barclays Premier League matches against Everton, Chelsea and Manchester City. Age is no barrier to success with the Dutchman and he has been impressed by the talented forward, who was included in the England Under-20 squad this week.
When asked by MUTV if Wilson was pressing for a second start in the top flight, following last May's two-goal debut against Hull City, van Gaal replied: "From what I have seen this season, [yes], but he was also injured a few times.
"He has already been knocking on the door for a long time, that I have said in many press conferences. That is not only because he substituted Robin van Persie in the last match. I believe in him but he has competition with [Radamel] Falcao and Robin van Persie."
Van Gaal also had a word on another youngster, Paddy McNair, who could be in the side to face Crystal Palace. "With him, we have played two victories in a row, so maybe he is the key for our success!" smiled the Reds boss.
