Artists Reveals Kind Of Clubs Painting

An acclaimed artist known for his Manchester United paintings has revealed his latest creation - which depicts manager Louis van Gaal as the ‘King of Clubs’ in a deck of playing cards.

Michael Browne is a Salford-born Red who fans might remember for his painting of Eric Cantona in a portrait called The Art of the Game. After recently moving to Italy and watching this season’s events from afar, he felt compelled to run his brush over a canvas once again.

“Louis van Gaal has an authoritative presence that I was intrigued by,” he explained. “I have lived in Rome for the last year and a lot of my work is based on renaissance art, so I couldn’t help but see him as a kind of legionnaire, general figure with a type of coliseum behind him.

“I tried not to stray too far from the manager’s portrait and I felt the playing card style was also an interesting addition that could one day make a nice collectable for fans. I made him the King of Clubs because he has achieved so much success around Europe – and hopefully with us in the future.”

Browne is looking to display and ultimately sell his latest painting. For more information, please email MichaelBrowne777@Yahoo.com or visit his Facebook page.
