United Men Up For The FA Cup

Louis van Gaal and four of his United players share their thoughts on the FA Cup tie at Yeovil as the Reds bid to win the competition for the first time since 2004...

Louis van Gaal: "You never know what might happen in a cup match. You have to win because you will be out if you lose. We have to beat Yeovil, but every team in England wants to beat Manchester United so it will be difficult. Everything about playing a lower league team – the pitch, the stadium – will be difficult."

Ander Herrera: "I have seen on the walls at the training ground how many times we have won the FA Cup - more times than anyone, just like the league. It’s an important competition for United but then they all are because we always want to win everything."

Phil Jones: "It won't be an easy game down there. Some people might think we'll go and walk all over Yeovil but it won't be like that at all. It will be a difficult game for us but we'll prepare right. The FA Cup is a massive competition, especially for the British lads who grew up watching it, but everyone wants to play in it."

Luke Shaw: "It's a new challenge in comparison to what we face every week in the Premier League, it will be a battle and I’m excited for the game. Yeovil will be really up for it, they’ll be used to the surroundings, it’s a tight pitch and they’ll have the fans behind them. But we're looking at the game with a positive attitude. We want to go there and win."

Chris Smalling: "English players like me have grown up with the FA Cup, it’s always been around and has always been important. We’d have obviously liked to have been drawn at home - it will be a tough battle there with Yeovil having nothing to lose. We have to make sure that we go there, do a professional job and show our class."
