Falcao Goal Pleases Van Gaal

Radamel Falcao's goal in Manchester United's 3-1 victory over Leicester City delighted manager Louis van Gaal.

The Colombian bagged his fourth strike for the club since arriving on a season-long loan from Monaco by sliding home from close range after Angel Di Maria's shot was parried by Mark Schwarzer.

Asked afterwards if he was pleased Robin van Persie netted for the first time since the Boxing Day triumph over Newcastle United, the boss admitted he was grateful that Falcao hit his first goal of 2015.

"I'm more happy that Falcao scored because I think Robin has scored enough goals already," van Gaal explained to MUTV. "Falcao needs that goal more than Robin. But, after all, it’s fantastic they scored – beautiful goals I think with very quick transition for the goal by Falcao, with Robin also having a big part in it, so I’m very happy.

Van Persie is now United's outright top scorer in 2014/15 with nine, ahead of Wayne Rooney on eight, Juan Mata with five and Falcao and Angel Di Maria both on four.
