Louis van Gaal: Glazer Family Pleased With Man. United Management
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is confident the Glazer family are satisfied with the way his reign is progressing.
Following Sunday's clash with fellow top-four hopefuls Tottenham, United face Liverpool, Aston Villa, Manchester City and Chelsea in an intimidating run of games that will have a huge impact on how Van Gaal's first season at Old Trafford is judged.
The Dutchman, 63, has drawn criticism for his side's performances with big-money arrivals such as Angel Di Maria, Marcos Rojo, Ander Herrera, Luke Shaw and Radamel Falcao struggling to adapt to life in the Premier League - but Van Gaal is adamant he retains the support of the club's owners as well as executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.
He said: "I have faith that I can complete my three years. I think they are pleased with my way of managing the club."
"I don't think I am here to think about the financial consequences. That is Ed Woodward. I am here to manage the professional football department of Manchester United.
"I am here because of my qualities and my philosophy. That we have spoken about in our first sessions with each other, Ed Woodward and myself. After that I have spoken with the Glazers. Because of those discussions I am here now.
"I am not thinking of the consequences if we are not in the first four. It is very bad for the club. But why do we have to speak about things that are not happening yet? We are longer in the top four than Arsenal."
Van Gaal recalled his history of successes with clubs such as Barcelona, AZ and Bayern Munich to substantiate his attitude, and added: "I said, 'I will (leave AZ)' but the players came to my house to ask me to stay, and the board also. Then, we were the champion."
