Depay On Twitter: Dream. Believe. Achieve.
Memphis Depay has used his official Twitter account to comment on his proposed summer move to Manchester United.
The 21-year-old Dutch international tweeted three times in quick succession, a little over two hours after ManUtd.com announced his transfer had been agreed with PSV Eindhoven.
While his signing remains subject to a medical, and would only be completed once the transfer window opens in June, it's clear that the World Cup winger is excited by the prospect of playing for the Reds.
Depay's first tweet of the day referred to PSV's latest league title triumph, which was wrapped up last month when he scored in the decisive 4-1 win over SC Heerenveen. "I always say; Dream, Believe, Achieve. I was dreaming and believing of becoming the champions of the Eredivisie with PSV and we achieved it."
Memphis then followed up by saying he was "extremely grateful" to PSV Eindhoven and their fans, his agents and a sportswear company.
Finally, and most excitingly for United supporters, he tweeted this message via @MemphisDepay: "Now it's time to set my goals again on winning trophies with @ManUtd."
Later, PSV Eindhoven's official website published an interview with Depay in which he said it would be a "dream come true" to play for United.
"The club and I agree with Manchester United," he added. "It's really fantastic. This is a huge step towards a big league."
Depay will seemingly leave the Dutch club on good terms, given the way their head coach Phillip Cocu and his current team-mates made a point of wishing him well at PSV's training ground earlier today.
"That did something to me," he revealed. "It says a lot about the team that all the guys come to me to congratulate me."
Cocu's colleague, PSV technical director Marcel Brands, said in a club statement: "We are very proud to have completed this transfer, which has come in a huge momentum.
"Memphis has risen through all the ranks at PSV and has had a huge impact on winning the Dutch Eredivisie title this season. He is a worthy representative of our Academy and will make a great move to a wonderful club in a magnificent league. Sadly, we will say goodbye to a fantastic player and we will miss one of our key players, who has been of great value to the team, but we grant him this wonderful step.”
Depay would be the fourth player to join United direct from PSV Eindhoven, following Jaap Stam (1998), Ruud van Nistelrooy (2001) and Ji-sung Park (2005).
