Louis van Gaal Demands Improvement

Louis van Gaal has stressed he wants to see improvement in his Manchester United side - starting in next Saturday's match at Crystal Palace.

The fourth-placed Reds have three games left this term and remain determined to clinch a Champions League spot despite a third successive defeat, 1-0 against West Brom at Old Trafford. The manager was disapppointed with his team's below-par finishing and will analyse the performance in depth with the squad.

"I saw a lot of good things and, in our evaluation, I shall show that," he stated. "But I’ll also show what I have always shown in an evaluation which are the things that we have to improve upon.

"That is my job as a manager, to do that. I am doing that every week. I shall do that until the end and I hope that we improve in that process. We have started playing football and then you are not good enough to hold the opponents in their own half. Also, in offence, the possibility to score is much more difficult, so we have to improve ourselves. Not in creating chances but, in finishing, because that’s what we lacked.

"We need to play with a higher ball speed. Most managers say that but it's more difficult against so many bodies in front of you."
