Van Gaal: Thank You, Fans

Louis van Gaal thanked Manchester United fans for their “amazing” support this season in a speech to fans inside Old Trafford after the 1-1 draw with Arsenal on Sunday.

As is customary following the final home game of the season, the manager took the microphone to address the crowd before the players walked around the pitch on a lap of honour.

“Dear fans,” van Gaal said. “I want to say thank you to you, fans, on behalf of my players and my staff.

“You were amazing, especially for me. I want to thank you for that and next year we see each other again. Bye!”

Later, when speaking to the media, the boss expanded on the supporters theme.

“It’s amazing. I feel the warmth of the fans and I like it very much. They are shouting, clapping… I have never had that experience at other clubs.

“The fans were so fantastic. How will they react when we are the champions?”
