Everton Announce Cleverley Signing

Everton have announced Tom Cleverley will sign a five-year contract at Goodison Park on 1 July.

The Manchester United midfielder spent last season on loan at Aston Villa and appeared in the FA Cup final for the Midlanders against Arsenal.

With the 25-year-old's United contract due to expire, he has agreed to join the Merseysiders in order to link up again with Roberto Martinez after playing under the Spaniard during a loan spell at Wigan Athletic.

England international Cleverley came through the ranks at Old Trafford and played 79 competitive games for the first team, scoring five goals. He won the Barclays Premier League title with the club in 2013, appearing in 22 of the games.

"We are extremely delighted to be welcoming Tom to Everton and I can think of many reasons as to why our fans will enjoy Tom representing our football club," Martinez told the Toffees' official website. "It says a lot when someone like Tom is available on a free transfer, and he can pick his next club out of many options home and abroad, that he has chosen to play for our football club."

Everybody at United would like to wish Tom every success in his future career.
