Manchester United Agree Deal With Besiktas For Victor Valdes
Manchester United have agreed a deal with Turkish side Besiktas for goalkeeper Victor Valdes, according to Sky sources.
The Super Lig club's manager Senol Gunes, a former goalkeeper himself, will make the final decision on whether he wants the Spaniard and discussions over personal terms will take place if he does.
Besiktas sold their reserve goalkeeper Cenk Gonen to fierce rivals Galatasaray on Tuesday and that has freed up space in their squad for another player in the same position.
Although the clubs have reached common ground over a transfer, Gunes has still to make his own stance known.
A move does look likely to go through though and if it does, it will bring Valdes' miserable stay at Old Trafford to an end.
Initially offered the chance to train there last October by United manager Louis van Gaal as he came back from a knee injury, the 33-year-old then signed an 18-month deal in January.
He made just two appearances at the end of last season and was left out of the squad which went to America for pre-season, despite uncertainty about David de Gea's future at the club.
Van Gaal later claimed Valdes had refused to play for United's under-21 side and made it clear he had no future at Old Trafford.
