Shaw On Top Form

Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw has told MUTV that he feels in the best condition since arriving at Old Trafford and is hoping to steer clear of injury in order to continue his fine form.

The former Southampton man has started all three of the Reds’ games so far this campaign, putting in impressive shifts in each of them. His ability to provide both a sturdy defensive influence and be a free-flowing attacking outlet has enabled Shaw to become an integral part of Louis van Gaal’s plans and the youngster hopes to continue on a similar footing.

“It’s the best I’ve felt in a long while,” Luke enthused. “I’m aiming to keep putting in good performances and to keep my fitness up. Hopefully no injuries will get in my way.

“As a team we have maybe not met our standards yet, but we have meetings about it and evaluate our game,” he added. “We feel good and hopefully will continue to get better and better – I think we can do that.”

When probed on whether or not his positive start to the season can be put down to him being more settled in Manchester, Shaw was keen to stress that him not being settled has never been an issue, however he did add that he feels decidedly more ‘at home’ now.

“It wasn’t that I didn’t feel settled last year, but now I feel really at home here,” he said. “I get on really well with all the players and staff and I’m working really hard in training too - so that’s a good thing. I feel really happy and am positive about how things are going.

“With my transfer fee and the way I came here, the spotlight was always going to be on me. This year I feel really good and better about myself. I’m really comfortable and happy to be at the club. “
