Van Gaal: We Won't Panic Buy

Louis van Gaal insists his scouting has already been concluded and there will be no knee-jerk reaction in the transfer market to Manchester United's 2-1 defeat at Swansea City.

Speculation remains at fever pitch about incoming and outgoing moves before the deadline, which is on Tuesday in the UK but falls on Monday for the majority of Europe.

"No, it doesn’t have any effect," he told Sky Sports. "When you are scouting players, you already know in advance more than a month or two months which ones you can buy or not. It’s not that we are in a panic at the last moment. When you see the game, we were the dominant team but you have to score more and not concede the goals."

When asked to expand on the matter at his post-match press conference, the boss was pushed as to whether he was satisfied with his present squad and if he was still pursuing any targets.

"You can never speak as a club as Manchester United that you are satisfied because that depends on the process," he added. "But, certainly, we shall not buy at the end of the transfer period a player that we haven’t scouted before.

"We know in advance what is happening and what is not happening. It’s not an issue. We have to keep on and, in January, the window is open. It is a process and I cannot change the process. It is not only dependent on the player but the club. It is a lot of things that you cannot force."

Reacting to direct questions about the future of David De Gea and Javier Hernandez, van Gaal stated: "You have to wait and see until Manchester United make announcements or the club or the player is going to makes announcements. Otherwise, he [De Gea] stays.

"I think we have coped [with the situation] by signing Sergio Romero, that's what we have done at the club to settle it down. I think we have done it well.

"I don’t speak about conversations I have with players because that is between a player and a manager."

Jonny Evans moved to West Bromwich Albion and Tyler Blackett sealed a season-long loan move to Celtic over the weekend while five first-team signings have already been made this summer - Romero, Matteo Darmian, Morgan Schneiderlin, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Memphis Depay.
